In the rapidly evolving research landscape of Uganda, the capacity to secure and manage grants effectively is paramount for advancing scientific knowledge and societal development.

Recognising this critical need, the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) with support from the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) Phase II+, is organising a specialized training in Grants Writing and Management.

This initiative aims to equip Ugandan researchers across all disciplines with the essential skills and competencies to navigate the complex grant landscape successfully.

Justification

The necessity for this training stems from the observed gap in grant acquisition and management skills among Ugandan researchers, which significantly hampers the growth of impactful research. With the increasing competition for limited funding opportunities, researchers must not only excel in their scientific inquiries but also in articulating their research proposals compellingly and managing awarded funds efficiently.

This training will directly address these gaps, thereby enhancing the quality and quantity of research outputs, fostering innovation, and driving national development.

Eligibility:

This training is intended for researchers with a master's degree or above who are actively engaged in research and capable of leveraging the acquired skills to secure competitive grants.
